“Increase Diversity at Leadership Levels With This One Strategy.” – Increase Diversity Newsletter

In this week’s Increase Diversity newsletter, Jenn Tardy discusses how we can “Increase Diversity at Leadership Levels With This One Strategy.”

Her strategy is Intentional Internal Networking or IIN. One of the main reasons underrepresented groups, such as women of color, are not in positions of leaderships is because “they might not find themselves within their leaders’ networks. As a result, leaders aren’t familiar with these talented individuals and their work.” This is known as the networking gap. 

The networking gap refers to “the huge advantage some people have in their careers, thanks to their social and professional circles.” Often times, these circles are the reason they are able to elevate in their careers. Tardy asserts that to overcome this, her solution of Intentional Internal Networking can be the immediate solution.
