Thanksgiving – How The MeeDerby Team Gives Back

MeeDerby has been a fully remote company for over a decade, and with that we have encouraged our team to get away from their desks and into their communities to give back.

In this season of giving, we want to highlight the ways the MeeDerby family volunteers their time!

Robin Mee – CEO & Founder – MeeDerby Gives Thanks, our charitable giving campaign is in it’s 6th year, and in 2025 will be contributing to the ASA Foundation in support specifically with Women In Leadership scholarships and the ASA Administrative Fund. Robin has known and provided support for one family for over 40 years, and is considering getting involved with the Greater Washington Community Foundation.

Kim Whiteley – President – Sits on the Board of Directors for SHIP (Student Homeless Initiative Partnership) in Frederick, MD and is actively involved with the students in the program to include mentoring students for both college and work readiness skills, volunteering time and delivering bikes to students.

Sue Jagan – Associate Director & Executive Recruiter – Volunteers with Kim at SHIP (Student Homeless Initiative Partnership) as well as the ASA on the Direct Hire and Women in Leadership Council, volunteered at the OSSA annual conference as a guest speaker, volunteers at my daughters sporting events for cheer, beginning to volunteer with the Parkinson Foundation of the National Capital Area

Jill Balick – Director & Executive Recruiter – Mentors to two individual for the Wayfinders program, a non-profit that provides summer camps, year-round enrichment, and mentorship to low-income students in the Charlotte, NC, area to build confidence and expand opportunities.

Walter Shedd – Executive Recruiter – Volunteers with the Fill a Heart 4 Kids foundation which provides homeless, at-risk & foster children food, critical necessities, life skills, tutoring & educational support to empower and build a brighter future for kids.

Anisha Fernandes – Executive Recruiter – Volunteers at a local charity shop in Dublin 2-3 times a week depending on the need. The shop collects clothes donations and distributes them to homeless people specially during the winter months.

Alex Hills – Executive Recruiter – Participates in Holiday Heroes at the kids’ school where each classroom sponsors a child in need and they make a wishlist of items to purchase and the classroom parents clear the wishlist for Christmas. She also participated in a service project through the school to honor first responders in our community leading up to 9/11. This involved donated items for care packages that were delivered to the Fire department, Police Department, local hospital, and the National Guard in our community. Our neighborhood also did a food drive last month to donate food to a local food pantry when the SNAP benefits were suspended, and donated pantry items. Finally, she participated in the school’s fundraiser to raise money for class field trips, purchasing items from the teacher’s wish lists to add to their classroom, etc.

Lauren Fenech –  Supports East Kentwood Athletics in Grand Rapids, MI and volunteers at elementary holiday events.

Jack Jobst – Volunteers with the American Staffing Association on their Marketing & PR committee as well as the Technology Taskforce.

Each year we challenge our team to be more and more involved as we miss out on the opportunity to come together like a branch who works in person would. It is important to remain involved in our communities right outside our doorstep and to intentionally give back.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!
