March 18 Bruce Steinberg Employment Report Mee Derby

In the March 2018 edition of the US Employment Situation, economist Bruce Steinberg examines changes in wages and salaries in recent years.

“… the expansion of  the economy — GDP continues to increase — is likely driven by productivity increases despite the overall labor shortages. Although wages and salaries are indeed rising, significant increases are spotty both geographically as well as by skill level / occupation. Throughout most of the country and sectors of the economy wage and salary increases are generally described as “slightly” or “modest.” (An overview of economic conditions throughout the country can be found here.) Apparently those spotty wage increases are being likely driven by increased value or a changes in skills called for by a sector or industry.” (Bruce Steinberg)

We suggest that all recruiters and staffing professionals read this monthly employment report to stay on top of the national employment trends across all sectors.
